Global Warming?

Monday, March 12, 2007
So global warming is a topic that's come up a lot lately in the news. It's certainly not settled science - but there's plenty of anecdotal evidence to support it. Take, for instance, the people I just saw playing basketball. In shorts. Outside. At night. In Oregon. In the winter.

While Climate Change - the preferred term for what is commonly called Global Warming - is not "confirmed science" (by definition, a predictive scientific theory cann ot be confirmed), the International Panel on Climate Change - which is as close as you're going to get to an international scientific consensus - has recently issued a report arguing that it is more than 90 percent likely that global warming since 1950 has been driven mainly by the buildup of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases, and that more warming and rising sea levels are on the way. The report can be found at http://www.ipcc.ch/

Since it isn't "confirmed science" I'm choosing to blame those damn dirty hippies. Global warming is clearly caused by the rise in the amount of pachouli used to mask the B.O. smell left over from not bathing regularly.

I also blame the government.

and my mother.

Mommy, why do you hate me?
