WordPress or Blogger?

Wednesday, November 01, 2006
I'm sick and tired of Blogger.com not working all the time (and I know I'm not alone.) Admittedly, I don't actually pay for the service but it actually seems to work for me (since I host my own website) about 3 in 4 times, which isn't a stellar track record (though roughly my grade average in college - the first time.)

So I'm thinking of moving to WordPress. This blog that you're reading (WalkingSaint.com) is pretty big and I use it a lot; I don't want to mess it up. So I'm testing it out over at my other blog, BurtonSimmons.com. If you wander over there you can see what it looks like with WordPress. Please, let me know if it works or if it doesn't. (Be gentle, though.)

If all goes well I'll probably try to migrate this site in the next month or so... whenever I have the free time (yeah, right.) Anyway, that might be where I'm headed in the future to escape that usage nightmare that is Blogger's service.

I've thought about doing the same, but too lazy to migrate the blog over to word press.

I've been using the beta version of blogger and it seems more reliable so far.

You don't need to subscribe to WordPress for anything... what are you talking about, Rebekah?

I never thought I'd hear anyone refer to a beta version of ANYthing as "more reliable..."

I know, it goes against the natural order of things, but since I switched to blogger beta (which I just discovered has only just now become available to bloggers who use ftp) the site as been much more stable. In fact, I was just reading on the main blogger page that they've upgraded their hardware because of all the problems they've been having, so I'm willing to give it a bit more time before I jump ship.
