Lost
in desolation a man walks
through unfamiliar territory
with only a map in his head
of how things used to be.
Confused
this man looks around
nothing is as it was before
a barren landscape, new
where once there was more.
Frantic
he tries to find what was there
not seeing what is now
the present
and the reality of his situation.
Sobbing
he claws at the ground
fingers bleeding, tears flowing
as the past
slips away forever.
Alone
our man rests
as night falls, few shadows are cast
by the dying sun
except by him
lost and alone in a new world.

man, that's depressing. what's up with that?
Well, I'm either a man if incredible depth or I get depressed and write bad poetry from time to time.
It's a toss-up.
